Day Six

Day 6

We had a real treat today with a sleep in till 8am and a trip to the market. We also visited Freida who runs a dress making shop. We all took great pleasure in ordering dresses, bags and shirts, which she will make for us to pick up on our last day.

The market was a lively, buzzing environment, selling a variety of fruit, vegetables and hard wear. Harriet was great at telling us what was what, how much we should pay for things and what certain things were used for.

After picking up more foam mattresses, which are used for cushions and padding with the wheelchairs we were back at the hospital for 11 o'clock ready for another set of clients.

They all arrived in good time today, so registration was brisk and organised. Today there were alot of crutches to be fitted rather than the more complex conditions we saw yesterday, so we were hoping for a less stressful day.

There were high spirits when we all gathered, team and clients to sing happy birthday to a few relatives back home, including one of the therapists son.

Once the assessment of clients began it was lovely to hand out bottles of bubbles for some of the children and alot of us enjoyed a lolly pop.

Each day we go to sit behind the building we work in, to have lunch and today was particularly good as most of us managed to have lunch together.

We had another surprise this afternoon, when it started to rain, a blessing in the heat.

It was such another successful day today, with lots of people leaving so happy with their mobility aids. It is heart warming to see how seriously life changing this equipment is to these people.
