Day 5
A thunder storm kept alot of us awake most of the night, so getting up at 6.15 was a little harder for some this morning. The power was off too, so we were getting ready in the dark. However dawn, like dusk comes very quickly here, so within no time we had had our breakfast, and were ready to go back to the hospital.
It is such a visual feast even travelling to the hospital, seeing sights you would never normally see in the UK,such as this truck travelling to market.
Once at the hospital it was a calm start, with people arriving on time unlike the last two days.
Again it was uplifting to here the morning worship that Paul leads and then we registered everyone.
Today the therapist went through a variety of emotions as they have the difficulty of a waiting room full of children with complex needs and a depleting range of equipment that may be suitable to use. This often means that alot of time is spent trying to modify a basic adult chair to meet the child needs.
Although the numbers of clients was lower today, it was still a late finish trying to make sure everyone was seen and given the best equipment possible. We were all looking forward to our cold showers back at the guest house.
Here are some stand out stories from the day......
Irene is 17 years old and a mother to a five month old baby. She has severe deformaty in her legs and she is unable to walk. Although she has tried to adapt to everyday life the wheel chair she has received will allow her to have greater independence and keep her baby safe with her, using the support harness. She left today very happy and thankful that she can now get around with her baby in tow.
